An Aura Approch
The Aura Approach:
Some distinct qualities of security audits performed by Aura specialists have essentially became a visit card of our company through many years of it's existence and clearly differentiate us from multiple competitors.
Clear Service Type Separation
While offering a complete range of security audit services, we strongly distinguish methodologies, approaches, knowledge base, skills and technical resources applied to perform external, internal, wireless and specialised customer-driven assessments. The formats of audit reports also highly differ between these assessment types to reflect their innate peculiarities.
Vendor Independence and Efficient Resources Utilisation
We are completely impartial and vendor-independent, and would never try to sell or advertise any specific products to decrease the risks determined by a security audit. Instead, we will offer a wide selection of feasible solutions, both technical and managerial, for you to consider and choose. Where possible, these solutions will always cover using "hidden" and unrealized potential of the already existing infrastructure to a full extent and without incurring any additional hardware or software acquisition and installation costs.
Thorough Verification and Manual Testing
Our experts have never fully trusted different automated security scanning tools and appliances, always performing thorough manual testing during any technical security assessments. The use of any automated vulnerability discovery means by our team is always supplemented, if not fully duplicated, by both hands-on manual evaluation and running similar tools developed by other vendors, in-house or by independent authors.
Infrastructure Vigilance
Aura team always pays special attention to the security of IT infrastructure appliances, low layer network protocols, wireless networks and devices. This approach of ours was strongly underlined in two books written by Arhont engineers in the past, namely "Hacking Exposed: Cisco Networks" in the infamous "red" series and "Wi-Foo. The Secrets of Wireless Hacking" (translated into five languages, more than a hundred thousand copies sold worldwide).
Parallel Troubleshooting
In the process of testing, Arhont professionals pay high attention to all encountered issues related to incorrect infrastructure setup and quality of service (QoS) settings. Thus, our audits carry an additional benefit of troubleshooting a variety of problems that are not directly related to systems and networks security. We cherish the "network stability and network security are two sides of the same coin" approach and would also like to emphasise that operational efficiency of all tested systems is just as important. In fact, an inefficient and unstable system or network would render many security countermeasures useless, for example, by generating a multitude of false positive alarms. Thus, all technical problems discovered during a security audit must be corrected, whether considered a vulnerability or not. In accordance to our observations, indirect links of such misconfigurations to serious security gaps tend to manifest themselves in a most unpleasant manner and at highly inconvenient times when critical situations arise.
